Aamir Khan Returns as Tough-Talking Coach in ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ Trailer—Fans React to Powerful First Look

The trailer for Sitaare Zameen Par, starring Aamir Khan, dropped on Tuesday, sparking excitement among fans eager for a glimpse of the much-anticipated film. The emotionally charged preview introduces Khan as a disgraced basketball coach forced into an unlikely role as a mentor to individuals on the autism spectrum.

The three-minute trailer reveals that Khan’s character, once a celebrated sports figure, suffers a professional and personal downfall following a confrontation with police. As a result, a court mandates him to work with neurodivergent individuals. His insensitivity earns him a ₹5,000 fine, setting the tone for a redemption arc laced with humor and heart.

Actor Riteish Deshmukh, known for his support of Bollywood peers, praised the trailer on X (formerly Twitter), calling it “Extraordinary,” and boosting the film’s buzz. The trailer launch had been delayed out of respect for victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and amid the Indian Army’s Operation Sindoor, reflecting heightened tensions in the region.

Directed by RS Prasanna and produced under the Aamir Khan Productions banner, Sitaare Zameen Par is billed as a spiritual sequel to the critically acclaimed 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. The upcoming film features ten debut actors, including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, and others, with a screenplay by Divy Nidhi Sharma. It is adapted from the Spanish film Champions.

In an April conversation with his Chinese fan club, Aamir Khan shared insights into his new role. He described his character Gulshan as the polar opposite of Nikumbh, the empathetic teacher he portrayed in Taare Zameen Par. “Gulshan is rude, politically incorrect, and insults everyone,” Khan said, adding, “If Taare Zameen Par made you cry, Sitaare Zameen Par will make you laugh.”

With its blend of drama and humor, the trailer sets the stage for a film that aims to challenge perceptions and celebrate resilience.
