Bengaluru : The 57 year old chairman of Confident Group allegedly shot himself dead at his office in Bengaluru, Karnataka on Friday, amid an income tax raid reported by the media.
With an active presence of 1.3 million followers on Instagram, in which his last post was regarding Republic Day wish garnered almost 5 lakh views. He actively posted regarding his luxury cars, travel stories and his vlog along with his family.
Chiriankandath Joseph, popularly known as CJ Roy, was born in Kerala and raised in Bengaluru completing his education in France and Switzerland. Later he worked in Fortune 500 giant Hewlett-Packard before commencing his own business in India. The company Confident Group began in 2006 by doing real estate business. His company projects are well established in Bengaluru, Kerala, and Dubai. But he wasn’t just a businessman, he was also a passionate film producer, avid car enthusiast, and also known as a philanthropist.

Roy’s brother, CJ Babu, the owner of WhiteGold, said media that his brother short dead himself with pistol as from past 3 days Kerala’s IT officials were conducting searches in Bengaluru. He even said that amid intense crackdown on builders in Kerala and his expansion of projects in these areas his brother was asked to come to Bengaluru. So to cooperate with the IT officials he returned from Dubai.
As per CJ Roy, his first purchase included 2 pieces of land in Kakkanad, Kerala wherein 100 flats were constructed out of which there were zero sales. Fortune hit him during his Mumbai visit where he encountered a Malayalam TV channels executive where he set his flat as a prize to the reality show’s winner which made him as his show’s brand ambassador and soon became the talk of the town. This resulted in flat sales which was zero earlier.
Now, the police is investigating the matter further. The handgun used by CJ Roy has been send to forensic analysis.
