The change, observed across platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and X, follows criticism directed at actor-producer Aamir Khan for his delayed response to Operation Sindoor and a resurfaced video from a 2020 Turkey visit.

The boycott calls intensified after the trailer release of Sitaare Zameen Par, set to hit theaters on June 20, 2025. Social media users have cited Khan’s late support for Operation Sindoor, a significant anti-terror operation, and an old clip of him meeting Turkey’s First Lady, which has stirred controversy due to Turkey’s perceived stance on India-Pakistan issues.
