UN Leaders Offer Condolences for Pahalgam Attack, Strengthen Counter-Terrorism Ties with India

A United Nations spokesperson, responding during a visit by an Indian technical team to UN headquarters in New York, confirmed that Under-Secretary-General Vladimir Voronkov of the Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and Assistant Secretary-General Natalia Gherman of the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) held talks with Indian government representatives.
Voronkov and Gherman extended their condolences for the terrorist attack that struck Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, 2025, the spokesperson noted.
The meeting centered on deepening cooperation between India and the UN’s counter-terrorism bodies, focusing on the implementation of critical Security Council resolutions and the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy. Key discussion points included India’s support for UNOCT-led initiatives, such as enhancing cybersecurity, preventing terrorist travel, aiding victims of terrorism, and disrupting terrorism financing, according to the spokesperson.
