The incident startled local residents, many of whom quickly shut their doors and windows while alerting the zoo authorities.

The bear’s escape happened during the day while zoo staff were preoccupied with preparations for the Asiatic lion census. According to zoo officials, the bear managed to climb a huge tree located within its enclosure. Residents of Kasturba Colony were shocked to spot the bear walking through their lanes. Upon receiving the alert, the zoo’s rescue team immediately rushed to the area. Within a short span of time, they were able to locate, tranquilize, and safely capture the animal.

The escape and rescue operation were captured on CCTV cameras installed around the zoo and the residential society. Officials later confirmed that claw marks were visible on the zoo wall where the bear made its escape. The swift response from the zoo’s rescue team ensured that the situation remained under control and no injuries were reported.

The incident has left residents shaken but relieved that no harm came to anyone. Authorities have assured the public that additional safety measures will be implemented promptly.
