New Delhi: Just a day after India resumed civilian air traffic at over 30 airports, fresh cancellations have grounded flights to and from nine key locations in North and West India for today, May 13. Major carriers IndiGo and Air India confirmed that they have suspended operations to affected airports on Tuesday due to heightened security concerns linked to escalating tensions along the India-Pakistan border.
The impacted airports include Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Amritsar, Chandigarh, Jodhpur, Jamnagar, Bhuj, and Rajkot. These cancellations come barely 24 hours after air services had restarted following a six-day suspension from May 7.
IndiGo issued a statement emphasizing that “passenger safety remains its highest priority.” The airline said it is actively tracking the situation and has advised travelers to check the latest flight updates on its website or app before heading to the airport.
Air India echoed similar concerns, stressing that operational decisions are being guided entirely by “safety in mind”.
These nine airports were part of the 32 facilities that had been shut earlier this month amid military flare-ups but had reopened briefly on Monday after a reported ceasefire. The abrupt reversal in flight operations has left many passengers scrambling for alternatives.
Airlines have urged affected passengers to seek assistance through customer support channels for rebooking or refunds. Travelers flying from or to the impacted cities are advised to confirm their flight status in advance to avoid disruptions.
