This is No Ceasefire: Omar Abdullah Tweet of Air Defence Tackling Pak Drones

Srinagar/New Delhi – Just hours after India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire agreement, explosions were reported in Srinagar, prompting concern and disbelief across Jammu and Kashmir. Former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah posted a video on X (formerly Twitter), capturing loud blasts in the city and remarking, “This is no ceasefire. The air defence units in the middle of Srinagar just opened up.”

Abdullah, expressing frustration over the rapid breakdown of the agreement, added, “What the hell just happened to the ceasefire? Explosions heard across Srinagar!!!” A blackout followed the multiple blasts, and sporadic gunfire was reported from Rajouri.

The Indian security forces intercepted and neutralized drones in multiple locations, including Pokhran in Rajasthan and Baramulla in Kashmir. Additional drone activity was detected in Rajouri, and air raid sirens were sounded in Jammu’s Samba district.

According to sources, the Border Security Force (BSF) has been instructed to respond decisively to any ceasefire breach.

Pakistan’s military reportedly launched artillery shelling along the International Border (IB) in sectors like Akhnoor, Rajouri, and RS Pura. Ceasefire violations were also recorded along the Line of Control (LoC), specifically in the Palanwalla sector of Jammu. A drone was brought down in Baramulla, and the region, along with Srinagar, was placed under blackout conditions.

Shiv Sena (UBT) Member of Parliament Priyanka Chaturvedi reacted strongly to Pakistan’s actions, stating on X, “In less than 3 hours, Pakistan has violated the ceasefire! Reports coming in from the western sector. Drone sighting reported in Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur and other parts of Punjab. Shelling and UAV activity continue in Jammu & Kashmir. Pakistan is a rogue nation that can never be trusted.”

The ceasefire agreement had been brokered through a call between the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries. Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed the exchange, noting that firing and military activity on land, air, and sea were to be halted from 5 p.m.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also confirmed the deal in Islamabad, stating, “Pakistan has always strived for peace and security in the region, without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” and expressed readiness for further engagement.

Despite the formal agreement, Pakistan violated the terms within hours, reigniting tensions along the border
