High-Level Meeting Held in Gandhinagar Amid India-Pakistan Tensions; CM Reviews Security Arrangements

Gujarat is on high alert due to tensions between India and Pakistan. Today (May 9, 2025), Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a review meeting at the Gandhinagar State Emergency Operation Center with senior secretaries from various state government departments, administrative heads of relevant districts, and police officials. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also made a telephone call to the Chief Minister to gather information about Gujarat’s security situation.
Considering security concerns, tight security arrangements have been implemented in Gujarat’s border villages. Additionally, Bhuj Airport has been handed over to the military. Four individuals have been charged for spreading rumors on social media and posting content that could lower the morale of the armed forces. The Home Minister has directed district police chiefs to take strict action against such individuals. A ban on fireworks and drone flying at weddings and other events has been imposed until May 15.
To prepare for any emergency situation, all leaves (except sick leave) of medical professionals, paramedical staff, and other officials and employees connected with health services under the state health department have been canceled. They have been ordered to report to duty immediately and instructed not to leave headquarters. The health department has also been directed to ensure adequate stock of medicines, prepare teams of doctors, and arrange generators in case of power outages, among other precautionary measures.
