26/11 Mumbai-Attack Accused Tahawwur Rana taken to Tihar Jail: Sources

Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a key accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, was shifted to Delhi’s Tihar Jail on Friday evening under heightened security arrangements, according to jail authorities.

Earlier that day, Rana was presented before Special Judge Chander Jit Singh of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) court, which ordered his remand to judicial custody just before his NIA custody period concluded.

“Following the court’s order, Rana was moved to Tihar Jail under strict security protocols. He will be lodged in the prison’s high-security section,” a jail source informed.

Rana, known to be a close aide of David Coleman Headley also known as Daood Gilani and a key planner of the 26/11 attacks was extradited to India after the U.S. Supreme Court on April 4 rejected his appeal challenging the extradition order.
