Mumbai Driver’s Reckless Escape Attempt Damages Seven Vehicles

MUMBAI: A 26-year-old man sparked chaos in Mumbai’s Mulund area on Sunday night after crashing his car into an iron pole and initiating a high-speed chase to evade police. The incident, which unfolded near a police outpost in Vaishali Nagar, culminated in a nearly 11-kilometer pursuit along the Eastern Express Highway, leaving six to seven vehicles damaged in its wake, according to officials.

The episode began when the driver, identified as Mohite, collided with a pole, producing a loud crash that alerted nearby police personnel. Officers signaled for him to stop, but Mohite accelerated away, disregarding their commands. In his frantic bid to escape, he struck several vehicles before merging onto the highway, where the chase continued. Police eventually apprehended him after the extensive pursuit, officials confirmed.

No injuries were reported, but the trail of damaged vehicles underscored the recklessness of Mohite’s actions, as noted by authorities. The incident has drawn attention to road safety and the challenges of managing high-stakes pursuits in urban areas, with officials emphasizing the need for swift law enforcement response to prevent further harm.
