Pahalgam: On the birthday of Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, who was killed in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, his family held a blood donation camp in his memory in Karnal, Haryana. Rather than mourning his loss, the event became a message of peace, unity, and remembrance.
His wife, Himanshi who married him just days before his death on April 16, addressed the nation with a heartfelt appeal. “I just want the entire nation to pray for him, that wherever he is, he is at peace and in good health. We don’t want any hate toward anyone,” she said. “We especially do not want people turning against Muslims or Kashmiris. We want peace, only peace.”
Speaking strongly against the communal tensions that surfaced after the attack, Himanshi emphasized, “Of course we want justice. Those responsible for this must be punished.” Still, she stressed that hate was not the answer. Standing with her family at the donation site, she called on people to channel their emotions into something meaningful.
“The nation should pray for Vinay’s peace where he is. We are here today not to mourn but to honour his spirit through service,” she added. During the event, she showed the mayor her mehndi design, which bore Vinay’s name. A poster displayed at the camp read, “Hindustan ka laal, Vinay Narwal” (India’s beloved son, Vinay Narwal).
Lt. Narwal’s sister, Srishti, expressed gratitude to all who supported the cause. “We’ve received an overwhelming number of messages from people across the country. This support gives us strength,” she said. “Our father has requested the government to grant Vinay the status of a martyr, and we’re hopeful. With the public’s involvement, we can carry forward the ideals Vinay lived by.”
The gathering was not only a tribute to a fallen soldier but also a testament to the values he stood for—service, sacrifice, and the hope for a united, peaceful India.
