Pakistan Fires Along International Border For The First Time, Indian Army Responds Swiftly To Pak Provocations

New Delhi: The Pakistan Army, for the first time, resorted to cross-border firing along the International Border in the Paragwal sector of Jammu on Tuesday night, following days of unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC). The Pak Army has also fired at multiple locations along LoC on Tuesday, marking the sixth consecutive day of cross-border firing by Pakistani forces.

Following the firing in the Paragwal sector along the International Border, additional BSF personnel have been deployed as Indian troops responded swiftly and in a calibrated manner to the Pakistani firing.
Along the LoC, the latest round of firing took place across the Naushera and Sunderbani sectors in Rajouri district, as well as the Akhnoor sector in Jammu, and in Baramulla and Kupwara districts. The LoC was also activated as Indian forces responded to assert control and ensure security along the border.

Artillery and air defence guns have not been used so far, as Pakistan is currently employing only small arms. Meanwhile, operations are underway in the hinterlands of Anantnag, Pulwama, and Shopian, with security forces positioned on top of the mountains, clearing areas one by one and moving closer.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF have been tasked with screening all houses, including those of OGWs, and gathering more details about their connections, sources added. Since the Pahalgam attack, cross-border firings by Pakistan have grown increasingly frequent, following a systematic pattern of provocation. On Monday night, multiple such incidents were reported from the Kupwara and Baramulla districts, as well as the Akhnoor sector.

April witnessed a marked escalation by Pakistan, with at least seven reported incidents along the Line of Control (LoC), raising concerns over cross-border hostilities. The month began with a mine blast on April 1 in the Krishna Ghati sector, allegedly intended to aid infiltration attempts.

The pattern continued into April 25-26, when firing was reported from 34 unconfirmed locations along the LoC, indicating a significant spike in hostile activity. Subsequently, on the night of April 26-27, two separate violations occurred in Kupwara district. Amid growing calls for retaliation against Pakistan over its alleged support for cross-border terrorism, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting on Tuesday to assess the security situation.
