MHT-CET 2025: Students Demand Justice Over Errors in PCM Exam; Questions Raised on State CET Cell’s Accountability

(By Our Correspondent)

Several students who appeared for the MHT-CET 2025 PCM group examination, organized by Maharashtra’s State Common Entrance Test Cell, have alleged serious discrepancies, claiming that over a dozen questions contained incorrect or irrelevant options. The exam, crucial for engineering admissions for the academic year 2025–26, concluded on Sunday.

Media Sources reported that candidates in the first shift on the final day highlighted errors in at least 15 mathematics questions and promptly alerted exam centre officials. Despite their immediate complaints, students are now questioning whether the authorities will take swift and fair corrective action.

While the State CET Cell has prescribed a formal grievance redressal mechanism  requiring students to report errors to invigilators and later escalate issues via the official website, www.mahacet.org  many students express skepticism over whether their objections will be addressed seriously. Representations submitted beyond the strict deadlines will not be considered, raising concerns about transparency and responsiveness.

The incident has sparked criticism of the State CET Cell’s examination management, with students and parents urging the authorities to ensure accountability. Many argue that for an exam of such high stakes  testing physics, chemistry, and mathematics through three 100-mark multiple-choice papers  even minor lapses can severely impact candidates’ futures.

The MHT-CET 2025 follows a syllabus set by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Maharashtra, drawing 20% from Std XI and 80% from Std XII content, with a difficulty level comparable to JEE (Main). Notably, there is no provision for negative marking.

As calls for a transparent review process grow louder, students await a fair resolution  hoping that the authorities will prioritize their future over bureaucratic procedure.
