‘Pani Nahi Milega Toh Chalang Kaha Marega’: Hardeep Singh Puri Hits Back at Bilawal Bhutto’s ‘Blood’ Warning Over Indus Waters Treaty (VIDEO)

New Delhi: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Saturday delivered a sharp retort to Pakistani leader Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari’s provocative “blood” threat concerning India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attacks.

Addressing a public gathering in Sukkur, Sindh province, on Friday, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairman had warned India, stating, “The Indus is ours and will remain ours either our water will flow through it, or their blood.”

Responding to these remarks, Puri said, “He says if water doesn’t flow, blood will tell him to go jump somewhere. But where will he jump if there’s no water?” He added, “Do not dignify such statements; it’s a foolish remark.”

Following the Pahalgam attack, which strained India-Pakistan relations further, New Delhi announced a series of sanctions against Islamabad. On Wednesday, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri detailed five punitive measures after a Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Key Sanctions Announced by India:

  1. Immediate suspension of the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty until Pakistan credibly and permanently renounces support for cross-border terrorism.
  2. Closure of the integrated checkpost at Attari. Pakistani citizens who entered with valid endorsements may return via the post until May 1, 2025.
  3. Cancellation of SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) visas issued to Pakistani nationals. Those currently in India under SVES visas have 48 hours to depart.
  4. Declaration of Pakistani Defence, Military, Naval, and Air Advisors in New Delhi as persona non grata, giving them one week to leave.
  5. Withdrawal of India’s own Defence, Navy, and Air Advisors from its High Commission in Islamabad, with the respective positions annulled.
