Adnan Sami Involved In Exchange With Pak’s Fawad Hussain, Sami Obtained Indian Citizenship Way Back In 2016

Mumbai: Singer Adnan Sami was involved in a heated exchange with former Pakistani minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain after he asked if the composer would also be sent back to Pakistan after India directed Pakistani nationals to leave the country following the Pahalgam terror attack.

On Friday, Amit Shah asked chief ministers of all states to ensure that no Pakistani citizens stay in India beyond the April 27 deadline set for leaving the country. Those with medical visas have been asked to leave by April 29. “What about Adnan Sami?” the former Pakistani minister asked. In a prompt response, Sami, known for his successful albums like ‘Kabhi To Nazar Milao’, tweeted, “Who’s going to tell this illiterate idiot!”

The sharp war of words didn’t end there as Hussain invited Sami’s wrath after he said that the singer was from Lahore. Correcting him, Sami said his roots were from Peshawar and slammed him for getting facts wrong despite serving as the Minister of Information.

“My roots are from Peshawar, not Lahore!! To think that you were Minister of (Mis) Information and have no knowledge of any information… And you were Minister of Science? Was that the science of BULLS**T??” Sami tweeted.

Adnan Sami obtained Indian citizenship in 2016 and resides in Mumbai with his family. In previous interviews, Sami had revealed how it took him 18 years to get Indian citizenship, and that he was “stateless for a year and a half”.
