
An unfortunate incident occurred today (Thursday, April 24) in Banaskantha’s Deesa, as an illegal wall collapsed during the construction work of a shopping center near Gayatri Mandir. A woman died on the spot in the incident, whereas her two daughters were rescued. The entire incident was captured in the CCTV camera. On the other hand, the supervisor, laborers, and the JCB driver fled from the spot.
Apparently, excavation and digging work was taking place at the shopping center when the wall collapsed. A woman named Tejalben Viraji Thakore, who was passing by on the road, died due to the wall collapse. She was shopping for her brother’s wedding at the Deesa market.
People who were present at the place reported that the wall collapsed as it got hit by the JCB vehicle. The woman and her family were walking on the road when the wall collapsed; the woman got buried under it.
The police reached to the spot, and the deceased woman’s body has been sent for post-mortem. Further investigations are underway. The police have assured that strict action will be taken against the illegal construction.
