Muslim Board Pauses Waqf Protests to Honor Pahalgam Attack Victims

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has temporarily halted its campaign against the Waqf (Amendment) Act for three days to express solidarity with the victims of a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The decision follows a deadly assault that the board condemned as “deeply tragic and strongly condemnable,” according to a statement released on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

The AIMPLB, which has been actively protesting the amendments to the Waqf Act, announced the suspension of its Waqf Protection Campaign as a gesture of sympathy for the families affected by the Pahalgam attack. The board’s statement emphasized the need to stand with the bereaved during this period of grief.

Other prominent Muslim organizations, including Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, have also voiced their support for the victims, aligning with the AIMPLB’s call for unity in condemning the violence. The pause in protests began on April 23, 2025, and is set to continue for three days.
