Noida: Unidentified burglars allegedly stole gold jewellery, a 100 gram gold biscuit, silver ornaments and cash worth nearly rs 2 crore from two locked flats at The Crescent Apartment in Noida, prompting police to launch an investigation and examine CCTV footage to identify the suspects.
The theft reportedly took place between 2 am and 2:30 am on the intervening night of October 11 and 12. One family was away in Panipat to attend a function, while the owner of the second flat, identified as Dhanalakshmi, was in the United States. The burglaries came to light after the residents were informed by neighbours, according to the report on October 14.
Jewellery, Gold Biscuit and Cash Among Stolen Items
In his complaint, resident Nitin Jain estimated the value of the property stolen from his flat at approximately rs 1.05 crore. The missing valuables reportedly included gold necklaces, bangles, bracelets, earrings, rings, a chain, a mangalsutra and two pendants.
The inventory also included a 100 gram gold biscuit, a gold coin weighing approximately 25-30 grams, nearly 2 kg of silver, 10-15 silver anklets and around rs 1 lakh in cash.
The second flat was also targeted, with valuables reportedly taken from the residence. Police have put the combined estimated loss from both homes at nearly rs 2 crore, although the final valuation remains subject to investigation.
Suspects Allegedly Scaled Society Wall
According to the complaints, the suspects allegedly drove around the residential complex in a car at approximately 2 am before carrying out the burglary. They are accused of entering the premises by scaling a boundary wall rather than passing through the main gate.
The suspects allegedly used a hand cutter to break the locks on the flat doors before entering the homes. CCTV cameras reportedly captured the suspects during the incident, and investigators are examining the footage to establish their identities.
The alleged entry route and the reported use of cutting tools are key details in the ongoing investigation. However, the identities of the suspects and their precise movements have not yet been established publicly.
Police Form Teams to Trace Accused
Sector 49 police have registered a case based on the complaint and formed teams to identify and arrest those responsible. Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of the break ins and verify the value of the stolen property.
The incident has also raised concerns about security arrangements at the residential complex, where two locked homes were reportedly burgled during the same period.
