
Pahalgam: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Wednesday announced Rs 10 lakh as ex-gratia relief to the families of those killed in the Pahalgam terror attack and Rs 2 lakh for those grievously injured in the incident.
“We condemn it in the strongest possible terms. We mourn the precious lives lost. No amount of money can ever compensate for the loss of loved ones, but as a mark of support and solidarity, the J&K Government announces an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh each for the families of the deceased, Rs 2 lakh for those seriously injured, and Rs 1 lakh for those with minor injuries,” it said.
It added that all arrangements for the dignified transport of the victims back to their homes have been made. “The injured are being provided the best medical care”. “Our hearts go out to the bereaved families. We share in your grief and stand by you in this dark hour.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah Wednesday, laid wreaths on the bodies of 26 people killed in the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. Shah also met the survivors and assured that the perpetrators of the dastardly act would be brought to justice, officials said. The Home Minister later interacted with families of the terror attack victims.
Newly married Indian Navy officer Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, 26, a native of Haryana, was among the victims of Tuesday’s terrorist attack in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam that left at least 26 people dead and 10 others injured. Narwal, who was on a honeymoon trip with his wife Himanshi, was allegedly shot dead in front of her.
According to Narwal’s friends and neighbours, he got married a few days ago and had travelled to Pahalgam just two days prior to the attack. In a video that has gone viral, Himanshi is heard saying, “I was eating bhel puri with my husband. A person came and asked if he [Narwal] was Muslim. When he denied, the man shot him dead.”
