Tourists Among 27 Dead in Pahalgam Terror Attack

At least 27 people have lost their lives after terrorists attacked the popular tourist destination of Pahalgam in South Kashmir on Tuesday (April 22, 2025), according to government sources speaking to The Media.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah indicated that officials are still confirming the final death toll, which will be announced through official channels later. On social media platform X, Abdullah stated, “This attack is much larger than anything we’ve seen directed at civilians in recent years.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam. The Prime Minister spoke with Union Home Minister Amit Shah by phone following the incident and instructed him to implement all necessary measures in response. Shah has departed for Srinagar where he will conduct an urgent security review meeting with relevant agencies.

Reports indicate that visitors from Karnataka and Odisha are among those killed in the attack.
