Ex-Karnataka DGP Om Prakash Found Dead at Bengaluru Home, Wife Detained in Murder Probe

Bengaluru: Former Director General of Police (DGP) of Karnataka, Om Prakash, was discovered dead under suspicious circumstances at his residence in Bengaluru on Sunday. Police have detained his wife in connection with what is being investigated as a potential homicide.
Initial reports indicate that Om Prakash’s wife is the prime suspect in the alleged murder. Authorities have shifted his body to a hospital for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
A 1981-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Karnataka cadre, Om Prakash held the post of DGP and Inspector General of Police from 2015 until his retirement in 2017.
Hailing from Champaran in Bihar, the retired officer held a postgraduate degree in geology (MSc). Further developments in the case are awaited as the investigation continues.
