A 14-year-old girl was found dead under suspicious circumstances near her residence in Baramati, Maharashtra’s Pune district, on Sunday morning. The victim has been identified as Avani Ajit Dashavatare, the daughter of Ajit Dashavatare, who works as the personal assistant to NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar.
According to preliminary accounts, Avani had a minor argument with her mother on Saturday night and left the house in anger. When she did not return, her family approached the police and registered a missing person complaint. Search efforts followed, and her body was later discovered by the roadside near the family home on Sunday morning.
Police personnel reached the location after receiving information about the discovery. The body was then taken to Baramati Government Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Officials have stated that the exact cause of death has not yet been determined. An investigation is under way and is examining all possible angles, including the possibility of suicide as well as other circumstances.
NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar visited the hospital after learning of the incident. He expressed shock over the death of the young girl and noted that Ajit Dashavatare had been associated with him since his days in the Zilla Parishad. Pawar said he had spoken with police and medical authorities and stressed that there should be no negligence in the post-mortem process. He called for a thorough investigation so that the facts of the case could be established clearly.
Police have confirmed that the probe is continuing from multiple perspectives. Authorities are reviewing available information and evidence related to the events leading up to the discovery of the body. Further details are expected once the post-mortem report and other findings become available.
The case has drawn attention due to the young age of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and subsequent discovery. Local authorities remain focused on determining the precise sequence of events.
