Fresh off the success of Dhurandhar, actor Akshaye Khanna is set to make a striking impact in Telugu cinema. The makers of Mahakali have announced that his highly anticipated first look as the enigmatic Shukracharya will be unveiled on August 24.
RKD Studios dropped a cryptic social media post reading “24th August – The End Begins, accompanied by a production still of Khanna in character. The image shows the actor almost unrecognisable, with a long beard, matted hair tied in a high topknot, traditional tilak markings, and a rugged, layered costume that conveys both mystical authority and intensity. Fans and industry watchers have already reacted with excitement, calling the transformation absolute bomb and goosebumps-inducing.
Mahakali is the next major chapter in the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), following the success of Hanu-Man. Created by Prasanth Varma and directed by Puja Aparna Kolluru, the film blends Indian mythology with large-scale superhero spectacle. Khanna plays Shukracharya, the revered guru of the Asuras—a complex figure of wisdom, power, and rebellion. The role marks his Telugu debut and a sharp departure from his recent intense performances in Hindi cinema.

An earlier character poster released during Durga Puja in 2025 had already teased Khanna’s silver-bearded, ascetic look as the eternal Asuraguru. The August 24 reveal is expected to offer the first substantial glimpse of his full transformation and the film’s atmospheric world.
