UP Teen Alleges Sexual Harassment During Rapido Ride, Rider Barred

A 17 year old boy in Uttar Pradesh has alleged that a Rapido rider behaved inappropriately with him during a bike taxi ride. The company later said the rider had been permanently barred from its platform after the teenager raised the issue online.

The teenager shared a video of the alleged incident on Instagram and tagged Rapido’s official account. He alleged that the rider reached towards him while he was travelling as a passenger and attempted to touch his leg and thigh.

The teenager said he moved the rider’s hand away. The video captured part of the interaction and was subsequently circulated on social media, where it drew attention from users concerned about passenger safety.

Rapido responded to the teenager’s post and asked him to provide the ride ID and the mobile number registered with the booking. The company said the information would help it investigate the complaint.

The company later informed the teenager that the rider involved had been permanently barred from the platform. Rapido also apologised for the reported experience and said conduct that compromised a customer’s safety or sense of respect was unacceptable.

The teenager subsequently thanked Rapido through an Instagram Story for taking action following his complaint.

The incident has renewed discussion about passenger safety on app based bike taxi services and the responsibility of platforms to respond to complaints about alleged misconduct.

However, the available report does not establish whether a police complaint has been filed or whether criminal proceedings have been initiated against the rider. No further legal action was reported as of August 16, 2026.
