Delhi Police Issue Notices To X Users Over Alleged Abusive Posts Against PM Modi During CJP Protests
New Delhi: Delhi Police have issued notices to several users on X (formerly Twitter) over posts allegedly containing abusive remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the recent CJP protests, adding a new dimension to the controversy surrounding the demonstrations.
According to police officials, the notices were served to accounts whose posts were found to contain content that allegedly violated provisions related to online communication. Authorities have asked the users to respond to the notices and, where applicable, remove the posts under scrutiny.
While the police have not disclosed the exact number of accounts that received notices, officials said the action was taken after monitoring social media activity linked to the protests. They maintained that the exercise was aimed at addressing content considered unlawful and was not intended to curb legitimate criticism or dissent.
The move comes at a time when the CJP protests continue to generate political debate both on the streets and online. Social media platforms, particularly X, have become a key space for supporters, critics and political commentators to express their views, with several posts going viral in the aftermath of the demonstrations.
