Maharashtra FDA Seals Siya Goyal’s Family’s Shop Over Regulation Violations

A spice and dried fruit store owned by the family of Siya Goyal, a suspect in the murder of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal, received a letter from Maharashtra’s food regulator on Wednesday requesting that it cease operations due to alleged violations of several regulations.

The store, which is situated in Market Yard in the center of Pune city, is run by M/s BG Goyal and Company, a company owned by the family of Siya Goyal (20), who is presently incarcerated, according to sources.

Following an examination at the location by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the store has been advised to cease operations until further directives, according to the officials.

The FDA claims that after inspecting the facility, its representatives took four samples of food items, including soybean pieces, sesame seeds, and turmeric powder from the “Sant” and “Sadhu” brands.

According to the FDA, a stock of 4,172 kg of these goods, worth Rs 8.14 lakh, was seized during the inspection because of likely adulteration and suspected label violations. According to the regulatory body, the action was initiated after it was discovered that the company had not complied with several mandatory rules under the Food Safety and Standards Act.

“Considering the violations, a notice has been issued directing the firm to stop its business activities until further orders,” an official noted. The FDA also claimed that the establishment had neglected to update its license details.

On June 18, during a trip at Lohagad Fort in Pune district, Siya Goyal and her boyfriend Chetan Chaudhary (22) are accused of forcing her fiancé Agarwal (25) off a cliff, resulting in his death.
