Bengaluru Teacher’s Suicide Note Blames Husband, Sister-In-Law Months After Love Marriage

Bengaluru : A 25-year-old teacher, who had married just four months ago, was found dead at her residence in Bengaluru, with police recovering a suicide note in which she accused her husband and his elder sister of subjecting her to harassment and holding them responsible for her death. The victim, identified as Shwetha, worked at a private school and had entered into a love marriage earlier this year. Her body was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside her home.

Shwetha wrote, “If I die, don’t let them go unpunished, Amma. I made a mistake. Please forgive me.” She urged that those she blamed should not escape punishment if she died. Shwetha alleged that her husband and his elder sister had been harassing her continuously, even though she said she did not know what she had done wrong. She wrote that the alleged treatment had pushed her to the point where she no longer wanted to live.

The note also expressed remorse over her decision. “I no longer have the will to live. Please forgive me. Please don’t blame me,” she wrote. Police have launched an investigation and are examining the allegations mentioned in the note.“They have been subjecting me to harassment. They have made me lose all desire to live. Mother, if I die, please do not let them go unpunished. I made a mistake. Please forgive me,” she wrote.

Police told a media that Shwetha had entered into a love marriage four months ago. The couple reportedly had been having frequent marital disputes since their marriage, and they had allegedly argued again on Friday, July 10.
Shwetha, who worked as a teacher at a private school, allegedly died by suicide following the argument. Following the incident, Kamakshipalya Police visited the spot and began an investigation.
