7 Arrested After Violent Sword Clash in Ajit Residency Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: A violent confrontation occurred on the night of April 14 at Ajit Residency in Ahmedabad’s Rakhial area, resulting from ongoing hostility between neighbours. The victim, identified as 22-year-old Salman Khan Pathan, was attacked by a group wielding swords and knives after attending a wedding ceremony.

According to the police complaint, Pathan was followed from the event by four associates linked to Azeem Toufiq Siddiqui. Upon reaching his residence, Pathan was assaulted by Afwan Azeem Siddiqui, who inflicted knife wounds on his hands and back.

Although Pathan managed to escape and seek help from his family, the situation intensified when approximately 10 to 15 people, including known members of the Siddiqui family and several unidentified persons, assembled outside Pathan’s home. The group, armed with swords and stones, reportedly damaged property worth around Rs 20,000 and issued death threats. No injuries to family members were reported as the attackers failed to enter the home.

Police Inspector BJ Chetariya confirmed the registration of a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the GP Act, including charges of unlawful assembly, attempted assault using deadly weapons, and criminal intimidation.

Police have arrested six adults—Afwan Anjum Siddiqui, Asraf Pathan, Ammar Anjum Siddiqui, Kaleem Toufiq Siddiqui, Azeem Toufiq Siddiqui, and Javed Alam Khan Pathan—as well as one juvenile in connection with the incident.

This incident echoes the recent violent event in Vastral, where attackers brandishing swords assaulted passersby, further raising concerns over public safety and law enforcement effectiveness in Ahmedabad.
