Tree Crashes on 4 Cars at Ghatkopar’s Vikrant Circle Amid Mumbai Rain Fury; No Injuries Reported

Mumbai: A large tree came crashing down on parked vehicles at Vikrant Circle Junction in Ghatkopar (East) around 11 pm on Saturday, as heavy rain continued to lash Mumbai. Four cars were crushed and extensively damaged in the incident, though no injuries or casualties were reported.

Teams from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai Fire Brigade and Mumbai Police reached the site soon after and began clearance work. According to the ‘N’ Ward Control Room, garden department staff arrived at the spot immediately, and a JCB along with senior civic officials was brought in to remove the fallen tree and restore normal movement in the area.

The stretch falls under the civic ward represented by Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde, who served as a corporator from Ghatkopar before taking charge as mayor.

Saturday’s relentless downpour set off a wave of tree falls across the city, damaging vehicles, snarling traffic and causing property losses in multiple areas. The BMC recorded 91 tree and branch-fall incidents in the 24 hours ending 8 am, with 103 more reported over the course of the day. Among the more significant incidents, a tree fell onto the Meena Tai Thackeray Flower Market in Dadar, leaving traders counting losses, while another toppled at Maheshwari Udyan in Matunga, badly damaging several vehicles parked nearby.
