Agra Horror: Missing Man’s Body Found Buried Beneath Bathroom Floor, Wife Detained As Probe Deepens

Agra: What began as a missing person case has turned into a chilling murder investigation after police recovered the boy of a 44 year old man buried beneath the tiled bathroom floor of his own home in Agra, nearly 45 days after he was last seen.
The deceased has been identified as Surendra Sharma, who according to police had been missing since May 18. His wife allegedly told neighbours and relatives that he had left for work, while a missing person’s complaint was lodged on May 26. The case took a dramtic turn when police searched the family’s house and unearthed Surendra’s decomposed body from beneath the bathroom floor.
Police said the breakthrough came after Surendra’s brother, Anil Sharma, shared information that raised suspicion about the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Investigators subsequently searched the house, where they noticed signs that the bathroom floor had been recently renovated. After removing the tiles and digging beneath the floor, officers recovered the body.
The discovery sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood, with residents expressing disbelief that the body had allegedly remained hidden inside the house for weeks while life appeared to continue as usual.
Police have detained Surendra’s wife, Ruby Sharma, for questioning. According to investigators, she is suspected of involvement in the alleged murder and the concealment of the body. Officials have said that the exact sequence of events and the motive are still under investigation.
Investigators are also examining whether anyone else may have assisted in burying the body or renovating the bathroom after the incident. Forensic experts inspected the house and collected evidence, while the body has been sent for a post mortem examination to determine the exact cause and time of death.
According to police, Surendra and Ruby had been married for around 16 years and lived with their two daughters in Agra. Preliminary inquiries suggest the couple had frequent domestic disputes, though investigators have not confirmed whether these were directly linked to the alleged crime.
Authorities are also analysing mobile phone records, financial transactions and forensic evidence as part of the investigation. Police have said that all aspects of the case remain open and that further arrests, if warranted by the evidence, cannot be ruled out.
The incident has drawn widespread attention across Uttar Pradesh due to the disturbing manner in which the body was allegedly concealed. Police have urged the public not to speculate about the case while the investigation is underway.
Further legal action will depend on the post mortem findings, forensic reports and other evidence collected during the ongoing investigation.
