Bengaluru has become the new training base for Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, marking a significant advancement in his international career. According to reports, he has rented a space close to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (COE) and plans to use it as his full-time training facility whenever he isn’t playing competitive cricket.
The multi-sport facility has long been utilized by India’s contracted cricket players for national camps, fitness testing, and injury rehabilitation. While it remains open for other sports, the BCCI also utilizes it for youth camps. It appears like Pandya intends to use it as his permanent base for the rest of his career.
Pandya made the decision, according to PTI, because he was having trouble juggling his daily trip from his Lower Parel home in Mumbai with his training regimen. He will have year-round access to top-notch medical, fitness, and cricket-specific resources because he lives close to the COE. “Hardik has already moved to Bengaluru permanently.
He has hired a house near the COE on the outskirts of the city. According to the BCCI source, he will be the first Indian cricket player to train permanently at the COE for the duration of his career. Although Pandya was born in Baroda, he lived in Mumbai for most of his life. In order to supplement the programs run by the COE staff, he is also expected to continue working with his personal physiotherapist and strength and conditioning coach.
Pandya’s transfer coincides with his recovery from the quadriceps injury that prevented him from participating in India’s current white-ball tour of England and Ireland. He has been rehabilitating and progressively increasing his fitness for several months at the CoE.
According to the cited source, Pandya plans to stay with India’s white-ball setup for a further five to six years, and he sees the move as a long-term investment in extending his international career. According to reports, Pandya pays for himself even during optional skill sessions, such as net practice with bowlers organized by the COE.
Pandya is reportedly aiming for a comeback in the 3 T20I series that India will play in Zimbabwe in July following the England series.
