Siya Goyal Case : Advocate Demands Rs 10 Crore From Brother Over ‘False’ Allegations

Pune : The murder case of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal took a fresh turn after advocate Aashutosh Srivastava issued a legal notice to Sahil Goyal, the brother of prime accused Siya Goyal, accusing him of making defamatory statements that allegedly damaged his professional reputation. Sahil also alleged that the advocate may have obtained Siya’s signatures on legal documents through deception.

The legal notice demands that Sahil withdraw his statements, issue a public apology and provide a written undertaking that he will not repeat such allegations. Srivastava has also sought Rs 10 crore as compensation. According to the advocate, his legal team approached Siya directly and received her consent to represent her. He maintained that there was no interaction with Sahil or any other member of the family regarding the matter.

Srivastava appeared before the court claiming to represent Siya and submitted a vakalatnama purportedly bearing her signature. However, Siya informed the court that advocate Vipul Dushing was representing her, a position that was also reiterated by her family, which maintained that Dushing had been officially appointed as her counsel.

Ahead of the hearing, Sahil had publicly asserted that Srivastava was neither authorised nor engaged by the family to represent Siya. He said the family had appointed advocate Vipul Dushing and had filed an affidavit before the court confirming the appointment. Sahil further alleged that Srivastava may have secured Siya’s signatures “by deceit” and accused him of threatening the family.

Sahil Goyal’s statement is incorrect because we never spoke to him; we dealt directly with Siya. She executed a vakalatnama in our favour, which is valid up to the Bombay High Court. The document bears her signatures,” Srivastava said. The allegations made in the legal notice are Srivastava’s claims. Sahil Goyal has not yet publicly responded to the notice. Meanwhile, investigators have continued to seek custodial interrogation of Siya Goyal and her co-accused, Chaudhary.

The prosecution also said investigators are attempting to recover deleted digital evidence, verify the reconstructed sequence of events with Chaudhary, identify people who may have interacted with the accused at the fort using CCTV footage, recover Agarwal’s missing passport allegedly discarded by Siya, and confront the accused with newly identified witnesses. According to police, 20-year-old Siya Goyal conspired with her 22-year-old boyfriend, Chaudhary, to murder Ketan Agarwal because she did not want to marry him and feared that calling off the wedding would bring disrepute to her family.
