Mumbai Crime: 35-Year-Old Brutally Stabbed Just 3 Days After Mayank Lohar Train Murder  

Mahim, Mumbai: Just three days after a 22-year-old commuter was fatally stabbed aboard a Churchgate-Nalasopara bound local train, another violent altercation occurred outside Mahim railway station on Thursday night. A 35-year-old man was repeatedly stabbed by a fellow pedestrian following a minor argument on the footpath, reported by Hindustan times.

According to Hindustan Times, the victim, Navin Prasanna, had just arrived by local train from his office in Lower Parel. As he exited Mahim station around 10:15 PM, he accidentally bumped into another pedestrian. The passerby claimed that the minor collision caused him to drop and break his mobile phone, and he immediately demanded financial compensation from Prasanna. When Prasanna declined to pay for the damaged phone, the confrontation quickly escalated. The unidentified assailant pulled out a knife and allegedly stabbed Prasanna multiple times before fleeing the scene.

An officer in the Mahim Police station said, “We have registered a case of attempt to muder, criminal intimidation and intentional insult intent to provoke a breach of the peace, of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, against an unknown person.” 

Prasanna is a resident of Pitamber Lane in Mhaim West. His brother Sachin said his brother worked as an office boy with an advertising , entertainment and technology company in Lower Parel and was brutally attacked outside the Mahim Station. He suffered multiple injuries and was unconscious for 15 hours.  

Police said Prasanna had suffered serious injuries to his abdomen and was immediately rushed to Sion Hospital by locals. The police officer informed them that they suspect the culprit took a train and fled from the spot. Prima Facie, he seemed to be a drug addict adding that the investigation is underway. They are looking for the accused.
