Mumbai: A devastating fire at Atlantic Building on Sherly Rajan Road in Bandra West claimed the life of a 64-year-old resident late on Wednesday night. The blaze erupted on the seventh floor of the residential structure, triggering a large-scale emergency response and raising concerns that occupants could be trapped inside.
Massive Emergency Response Deployed
According to reports, the fire was reported around 9:12 pm, prompting the deployment of multiple fire engines, police personnel, ambulance services, electricity department officials and civic authorities. As the flames intensified, the incident was classified as a Level-I fire, with firefighting teams working to prevent the blaze from spreading to other parts of the building.

One Resident Dies, Firefighters Injured
The incident resulted in the death of a 64-year-old man. Additionally, two firefighters sustained injuries while carrying out rescue and firefighting operations and were admitted to hospital for treatment. The fire was eventually brought under control close to midnight.
Panic Among Residents As Flames Spread
The fire spread rapidly across the affected floor, causing panic among residents and people in the surrounding area. Witnesses reported seeing intense flames from neighbouring buildings as emergency teams battled the blaze. Initial concerns had also emerged that individuals might be trapped inside the building during the incident.
Cause Of Fire Yet To Be Determined
Authorities have not yet established the cause of the fire. Investigations are expected to determine how the blaze started, while officials continue to assess the extent of the damage caused to the residential building.
