Bhopal: A second post-mortem examination was conducted on Twisha Sharma, the woman who was found hanging at her matrimonial home in Bhopal 12 days ago, before her final rites were performed, according to a report by India Today.
Emotional scenes unfolded at Bhadbhada Vishram Ghat in Bhopal, where the last rites were performed after 5 pm. Twisha’s mother and other members of her family were inconsolable as the funeral pyre was left after performing rituals. Twisha’s brother performed the last rites.

‘Today we are going to bid farewell to a daughter, a sister, a friend and an innocent life. The daughter who had been hung a new phase of life with dreams has left us all too soon. The vacant eyes of parents, shattered dreams and every passing moment spent waiting for justice raise a silent question before society,” Twisha’s father Navnidhi Sharma told PTI before the cremation.
The case drew public attention after Twisha Sharma’s family raised concerns regarding the circumstances surrounding her death and demanded a more detailed investigation. Following these concerns, authorities ordered a second autopsy to further examine the case.
As reported by India Today, the second post-mortem was carried out in the presence of medical experts and officials. After the procedure was completed, the family proceeded with her cremation.

Police officials stated that the investigation remains ongoing and that statements from family members and others connected to the case are being recorded. Authorities are also examining forensic evidence and medical findings as part of the inquiry.
The report noted that Twisha Sharma was found hanging at her matrimonial residence in Bhopal earlier this month. Following the incident, her family alleged possible foul play and sought a transparent investigation into the circumstances leading to her death.
Samarth Singh, her husband who is a lawyer was arrested in Jabaplaur on Friday after remaining abscoding for 10 days. A Bhopal court on Saturday sent him to a seven day police remand.
