Gujarat’s MLAs Will Now Get Grant of Rs 2.50 crore, Rs 50 lakh To Be Used For Water Conservation Work

Gujarat Government has taken a crucial decision today. MLAs of Gujarat will get now Rs 2.50 crore as a annual grant. Earlier MLAs was getting Rs 1.50 crore as a grant. Now it is increased to 1.50 crore. Interestingly, MLAs have to spent Rs 50 lakh on ‘Cath The Rain’ project.

Ensuring future water security through rainwater harvesting Gujarat has been running Sujalam Suflam Jal Abhiyan for increasing water level of earth since 2018. Under this project, many ponds become large from a small one. Under this campaign, various water conservation works like deepening of ponds, desilting of check dams, repair-maintenance and cleaning of canals, earth embankments and rainwater harvesting are carried out.

Notably, campaign has increased the water storage capacity by 1,19,144 lakh cubic feet in the last seven years. As many as 199.60 lakh people got their bread and butter following this project so far. MLAs have to spend Rs 50 lakh on ‘Cath The Rain-Sujalam Sufalam Jal Abhiyan 2.0’ from their total grant.
