New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced that the NEET UG 2026 re-examination will be conducted on June 21 following the cancellation of the earlier test amid allegations of a paper leak and examination irregularities. According to Hindustan Times, the revised schedule was released days after the Centre ordered a detailed investigation into the controversy surrounding the medical entrance examination.
The original NEET UG 2026 exam was held on May 3 for lakhs of aspirants across the country. However, the examination was cancelled after reports emerged that certain questions had allegedly been leaked before the test. The issue triggered widespread concern among students, parents, and coaching institutes, prompting authorities to initiate a fresh probe. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently handling the investigation into the alleged malpractice.
As reported by Hindustan Times, the NTA clarified that candidates will not be required to submit fresh applications or pay additional examination fees for the re-test. Existing registrations will remain valid for all applicants who had earlier registered for the examination. The agency is also expected to release updated admit cards and examination-related instructions before the re-exam date.
The decision to conduct the exam again has created anxiety among aspirants preparing for undergraduate medical admissions, though officials have stated that the move is necessary to ensure fairness and transparency in the admission process. Students have been advised to regularly check the official NTA website for the latest updates regarding admit cards, exam centres, and revised guidelines.
