Tragic Fall Prompts Police Probe at Delhi Amusement Park

Authorities are set to investigate an amusement park in southwest Delhi’s Kapashera following the death of a 24-year-old woman who reportedly plummeted from a roller coaster, according to a police source. No suspects have been detained in connection with the incident as of yet.

The tragedy unfolded on Thursday evening at Fun and Food Village, where Priyanka fell from a ride after its support structure gave way, causing her to crash to the ground. Police noted that she sustained numerous injuries, including bleeding from her ears, nose, and throat, a deep cut on her right leg, a puncture wound on her left leg, and several scrapes on her right forearm and left knee.

Priyanka’s fiancé, Nikhil, rushed her to Manipal Hospital, but medical staff pronounced her dead upon arrival, a senior police official confirmed. Following a complaint and initial investigation, authorities have filed a First Information Report (FIR) under sections 289 (negligent conduct involving machinery) and 106 (culpable homicide due to negligence, not amounting to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

A post-mortem examination has been completed, and Priyanka’s body has been released to her family, the official added. Police reported that Priyanka’s brother, Mohit, informed them that she and Nikhil had gotten engaged in February and were planning a wedding for February of the following year. Mohit has pointed the finger at the water park management, alleging they failed to uphold adequate safety measures.

Efforts to obtain a statement from Fun and Food Village have so far been unsuccessful, with no response provided by the amusement park authorities.
