TCS Nashik Scandal: Operations Head Custody Extended in Harassment Case

The sexual harassment case involving Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Nashik has intensified, with a local court extending the police custody of the company’s operations head until April 15, according to a report by Free Press Journal. The accused had earlier been remanded to police custody for three days and was produced before the court again, where the prosecution sought additional time citing the ongoing investigation.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Kiran Bendbhar stated that the case involves serious allegations of sexual and mental harassment of a female employee within the workplace. The court granted the extension after hearing arguments that further custody was necessary to advance the probe.

As reported by Free Press Journal, the accused operations head was also a member of the company’s POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) committee. Despite this role, the prosecution alleges that she failed to act on the victim’s complaint and instead supported the accused individual. This alleged inaction has become a central aspect of the investigation.
The case has expanded significantly, with nine offences registered so far. Authorities have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to examine the matter in detail, given the seriousness and complexity of the allegations. The probe is not only focused on the harassment claims but also on whether there was any failure in following established workplace safety protocols.
Further scrutiny is being directed at the functioning of the internal complaints mechanism, particularly the role of the POSH committee, as investigators assess whether due procedures were followed.
The development marks a significant escalation in the case, as law enforcement agencies continue to gather evidence and examine the involvement of individuals in the alleged misconduct. As highlighted by Free Press Journal, the investigation remains ongoing, with authorities expected to take further action based on their findings.
