Two Killed, 21 Injured as Jaipur-Bound Sleeper Bus Overturns in Karol Bagh

New Delhi: A tragic road accident claimed two lives and left 21 others injured when a private sleeper bus traveling from Jaipur, Rajasthan, overturned in central Delhi on Wednesday night.

The incident occurred near the Jhandewalan Temple, close to Hanuman Mandir Chowk in the Karol Bagh area, during the final stretch of the bus’s journey. The vehicle was carrying around 25 passengers at the time.

According to reports, the Delhi Fire Department received an emergency call at 1:08 am on Thursday, alerting authorities to the overturned bus. Two fire tenders were immediately dispatched to the spot, where rescue teams worked swiftly to extricate passengers trapped inside the wreckage.

The scene at the accident site was chaotic, with images showing the heavily damaged bus lying on its side amid scattered glass, broken seats, and detached wheels. The injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination.

The Delhi Police have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash, including how the driver lost control of the vehicle.

This latest mishap highlights ongoing concerns regarding long-distance private bus travel on busy routes leading into the national capital. Authorities are expected to examine factors such as speed, mechanical condition, and road conditions as part of their probe.
