Male: Gautam Singhania, the Managing Director of the Raymond Group, has sustained injuries following a serious speedboat accident in the Maldives. The incident, which occurred during the early hours of Saturday, has also left two other Indian nationals missing, triggering an intensive search and rescue operation by local maritime authorities.
According to a report by The Times of India, the industrialist was traveling aboard a private vessel when it collided with a reef near a popular resort atoll. While the exact cause of the navigation error remains under investigation, local police confirmed that the impact caused significant damage to the craft. Singhania was quickly evacuated from the scene and transported to a medical facility in Male. Sources close to the family indicate that while he has suffered multiple fractures and lacerations, his condition is currently stable and he is under close medical observation.
The situation remains critical for two other Indian passengers who were on board at the time of the collision. The Times of India reports that the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Coast Guard has deployed divers and aerial surveillance to locate the missing individuals. The identities of the missing persons have not been officially released pending notification of their next of kin.
The Indian High Commission in Maldives is reportedly in constant coordination with local authorities to facilitate the rescue efforts and provide necessary consular assistance. This accident comes amid a busy tourist season in the archipelago, raising concerns regarding maritime safety protocols for private excursions. A spokesperson for the Raymond Group has requested privacy for the Singhania family during this period, stating that further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
