Akshay Kumar Joins Golmaal 5, Debuts Bald Look In BTS Video As Sharman Joshi Also Returns To Franchise

Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal franchise just got a lot more crowded. Akshay Kumar has joined Golmaal 5, and the announcement came wrapped in a birthday surprise on Shetty’s birthday, no less. Akshay posted a BTS video on X that confirmed his entry into the film, teased his character with a shaved head, and dropped another bombshell: Sharman Joshi is back.

The clip shows Kunal Kemmu, Arshad Warsi, Ajay Devgn, Shreyas Talpade, and Tusshar Kapoor already on set, shoot underway. Then Sharman walks in the first time he’s been part of the franchise since the original 2006 film, where he played Laxman Prasad Apte. That’s nearly two decades away from the Golmaal gang.

Akshay’s caption read: “Happy Birthday Rohit… On your birthday, the madness just got bigger and louder. Excited to be joining this crazy family of Golmaal 5. Let the chaos begin.”

What We Know About the Film

Akshay is reportedly in a pivotal role. He’s set aside 18 days from his schedule for the shoot not nothing, given he also has Bhooth Bangla coming up. According to Sacnilk, the story revolves around a hidden treasure and the gang’s chaotic scramble to find it.

One thing worth noting: this is the first time Akshay and Ajay Devgn are sharing screen space in a straight-up comedy. They’ve appeared together before Simmba, Sooryavanshi, Khakee, Insan, Suhaag but never in a film like this. Rohit Shetty directs. Shooting has begun. A release date hasn’t been announced yet.
