Mumbai : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday, March 10, announced a cash reward of Rs 131 crore for India’s T20 World Cup-winning squad led by Suryakumar Yadav. India scripted history at the Narendra Modi Stadium by becoming the first team to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup three times, sealing the title with a commanding victory over New Zealand in the final.
Sanju Samson once again stood out with the bat, extending his incredible run of form in the knockout stages. The Rs 131 crore reward announced by the BCCI is also significantly higher than the Rs 125 crore that the board gave the team after the 2024 T20 World Cup win under Rohit Sharma. The increase reflects what this squad achieved in 2026. India were dominant throughout the campaign. The Indian women’s team also received Rs 51 crore after winning the Women’s ODI World Cup last year. India’s latest title is part of a strong run in ICC tournaments over the last couple of years.
The stretch started with the Men’s T20 World Cup win in 2024, when India ended their long wait for a global trophy in the format. That momentum continued in 2025 with the ICC Champions Trophy, where India again finished on top in a major white-ball event. The Indian women’s team then lifted the Women’s ODI World Cup, adding another major ICC trophy to the country’s list.
India now hold five major ICC trophies across men’s, women’s and age-group cricket. At the moment, no other country has that many global titles across different levels. The next few tournaments will be important as well. The Indian women’s team will soon play the Women’s T20 World Cup, looking to add another trophy. For the men’s side, the next big target will be the 2027 ODI World Cup.
