Nagpur: 4-Year-Old Boy Suffers 45% Burns After Grandmother Allegedly Douses Him With Boiling Water During Holi Celebrations
A four-year-old boy from Nagpur is battling serious burn injuries after his grandmother allegedly threw a bucket of boiling water on him following a Holi-related dispute, in an incident that has sparked widespread outrage after CCTV footage of the episode went viral on social media.
The incident occurred on March 3 in the Koradi locality of Nagpur. According to police, the child identified as Om Harish Wange was playing outside his home with a small spray bottle filled with coloured water as part of early Holi festivities.
During play, some of the coloured water accidentally splashed onto his grandmother, identified as Sindhu Thackeray, who was at that moment carrying a bucket of hot water that had been heated on a fire nearby. Police said she allegedly reacted with fury and hurled the scalding water at the young boy.

Om sustained grievous burn injuries, predominantly to the lower portion of his body. Family members and neighbours rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed he had sustained burns over nearly 45 per cent of his body. He remains under treatment and is being closely monitored by medical staff.

The CCTV footage from the area, which has since spread rapidly across social media platforms, captures the child walking toward the woman with the spray bottle in hand. Within moments, she is seen throwing the water on him, after which the boy is visibly screaming in agony before running away.
Local police confirmed they are reviewing the CCTV footage as part of their ongoing investigation. Officials stated that legal proceedings are being initiated against the accused grandmother, and a case is expected to be registered under relevant provisions pertaining to causing grievous hurt.
