Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Skips Class 10 Board Exams To Focus On IPL 2026 Preparation

India’s young cricket sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will skip his Class 10 board examinations this year. The 14-year-old, who recently played a crucial role in India’s triumph at the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, has been unable to concentrate on academics due to his demanding cricket commitments. He spent the majority of 2025 on the road, representing the India Under-19 and India A squads in various tournaments.

Sooryavanshi is a student at Modesty School in Tajpur, Bihar, where his board examinations were slated to run from February 17 to March 11. While initial media reports suggested he would attempt the exams, his coach Manish Ojha has clarified that the teenager will forgo them to focus on the upcoming Indian Premier League season.

“He won’t be giving the Class X exams. He is currently in Nagpur preparing for the upcoming IPL. He has already joined Rajasthan Royals for a pre-season camp,” Ojha stated.

The young batsman has already linked up with Rajasthan Royals’ pre-season camp in Nagpur. Following a remarkable maiden season in 2025, he is anticipated to play a significant role for the franchise in IPL 2026.

Sooryavanshi’s U-19 World Cup performance

Sooryavanshi produced exceptional displays at the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup. In the final against England, he smashed 175 runs off merely 80 deliveries, an innings that featured 15 fours and 15 sixes—the most sixes struck in a single innings in the tournament’s history. He concluded the competition with 439 runs across seven matches, emerging as the second-highest run-getter. With one century and three half-centuries to his name, he was instrumental in India’s title victory. He earned the Player of the Match award in the final and was also honoured with the Player of the Tournament accolade.

Throughout the tournament, he launched 30 sixes in total, establishing a new record for the most sixes in U-19 World Cup history. He surpassed the previous benchmark of 18 sixes held by Dewald Brevis.
