Captain And Trainee Pilot Injured As Private Training Aircraft Crashes In Karnataka’s Vijayapura

A captain and a trainee pilot sustained injuries after a private training aircraft operated by Red Bird Aviation crashed following an engine malfunction in Karnataka’s Vijayapura district on Sunday.
The incident occurred at Mangalore village. The light aircraft had two persons on board at the time of the crash. Both individuals were injured and transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance.
The aircraft came down in a field. Visuals from the scene revealed the plane had overturned upon impact with the ground, with the front section sustaining severe damage.
The crash took place within the jurisdiction of the Babaleshwar Police Station, and police personnel arrived at the location shortly after being informed about the incident. Additional details regarding the cause of the accident are yet to be disclosed.
Providing preliminary information, the investigation officer stated, “It is a private aircraft belonging to Red Bird Aviation. It was heading from Kalaburagi to Belagavi when it developed a technical glitch in the engine and suddenly crashed.”
The official confirmed that two people were aboard, identified as the captain and a trainee pilot. “Both sustained grievous injuries in the incident and have been shifted to the nearest hospital for further treatment. Further investigation is underway,” the investigation officer added.
