Apple AirTag 2 : Apple Debuts Second-Generation AirTag With Superior Range And Sound

California :  Apple AirTag 2 has been officially unveiled the , inducing new chips, loud speakers and much more to dramatically improve real-world findability and connectivity.

According to the official announcement on the Apple Newsroom, the centerpiece of the upgrade is the inclusion of Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip. This is the same advanced silicon found in the latest iPhone 17, Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3 lineups. As reported by news agencies, this new chip enables “Precision Finding” to function from up to 50% farther away than the first-generation model. This enhancement allows users to receive directional haptic and visual guidance toward their lost items from much greater distances, significantly reducing the time spent searching for misplaced belongings.

Beyond the UWB upgrades, the new AirTag 2 features a redesigned internal speaker. Apple claims the audio output is now 50% louder, making the tracker audible from up to twice the previous distance. Additionally, a new Bluetooth chip expands the overall range at which the tracker can communicate with the global “Find My” network, which leverages over a billion Apple devices while maintaining end-to-end encryption for user privacy.

The tech giant also highlighted the “Share Item Location” feature, which allows travelers to securely share a temporary tracking link with more than 50 participating airlines to help recover delayed baggage.

Now talking about the pricing, Apple has kept the prices affordable, with the new AirTag 2 starting at $29 (₹3,790 in India) and $99 (₹12,900 in India) for four packs. Also, make a note that this new AirTag 2 will support iPhones running on iOS 26 or later versions only.
