UNITED NATIONS – India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, delivered a scathing rebuttal to Pakistan during a high-level session at the UN Security Council, dismissing Islamabad’s recent claims regarding “Operation Sindoor” as a “false and self-serving account.”
The diplomatic confrontation arose after Pakistani officials presented a narrative of the May 2025 military engagement that India characterized as a complete inversion of the facts. Addressing the council, Ambassador Harish revealed that the cessation of hostilities was not a result of Pakistani military parity, but rather a direct consequence of Islamabad “pleading” for a halt to the operations.
“On achieving its primary objectives, a cessation of military activities was directly concluded at the request of Pakistan,” Harish stated. He emphasized that India’s military action was a “focused, measured, and non-escalatory” response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians.
The Indian envoy further criticized Pakistan’s internal governance and its “single-point agenda” of targeting India. He highlighted the “supreme irony” of Pakistan discussing civilian protection at the UN while its own military and government officials reportedly attended the funerals of terrorists targeted during Operation Sindoor. Harish noted that such actions strip Islamabad of any credibility to lecture the international community on human rights or peace.
Citing reports, the Ambassador contrasted the two nations, describing India as a “mature democracy and surging economy” while labeling Pakistan as a “serial borrower from the IMF” that remains “steeped in fanaticism.” He reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir remains an “inalienable part of India,” dismissing Pakistan’s “campaigns of misinformation” as desperate attempts to distract from its domestic failures and its status as a “global epicenter of terrorism.”

The session concluded with India reaffirming its commitment to international peace through multilateralism, provided there is zero tolerance for state-sponsored cross-border terror.
