‘World Cannot Exist Without Hindus,’ RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat Declares During Manipur Visit

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has asserted that the world’s existence depends on Hindus, claiming their absence would end global civilization. The RSS leader made these remarks during his first visit to Manipur since ethnic violence erupted in the state. Addressing a gathering, he described Hindu society as immortal and noted that India has outlasted ancient empires like Greece, Egypt, and Rome.

According to an India Today report, Bhagwat characterized Hindu society as the “global guardian” of dharma. He stated:

“Every nation of the world has seen all kinds of situations. Yunaan (Greece), Misr (Egypt) and Rome, all civilisations perished from the face of the earth. There is something in our civilisation that we are still here”.

He continued:

“India is the name of an immortal civilisation… We have created such a network in our society because of which the Hindu community will always remain. If Hindus disappear, the world’s existence will end”.

Earlier, Bhagwat had emphasized that there are no non-Hindus in India, as Muslims and Christians are descendants of the same ancestors.

Remarks on Naxalism

Referencing the decline of Naxalism, the RSS chief said it ended because “society had decided it would no longer be tolerated”. He also cited India’s independence struggle against the British. He said:

“The sun never set on the British Empire. But in India, their sun had already begun to set. We tried for 90 years. We never let that voice be suppressed. Sometimes it weakened, sometimes it strengthened, but it was never allowed to die”.

Self-reliance essential

Bhagwat also stressed that complete economic self-reliance is necessary to strengthen the nation. Additionally, he stated that both military capability and knowledge capacity are equally essential for nation-building. He said:

“The first requirement in nation-building is power. Power means economic capability. But our economy should be completely self-reliant. We should not depend on anyone”.

His statement comes at a time when trade relations between India and the United States have deteriorated. This began when President Donald Trump imposed a 50 percent tariff on India. Following this, the central government has relaunched its ‘Swadeshi’ (indigenous products) campaign.
