Puttaparthi : Actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was among the dignitaries who attended the birth centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi, Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday. The event also saw the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, and union ministers Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu and G Kishan Reddy.
During the celebrations, Bachchan delivered a speech that focused on themes of caste and religion. She spoke about the importance of humanity and love, encouraging everyone to move beyond divisions. The actor said, There is only one caste, the caste of humanity. There is only one religion, the religion of love. There is only one language, the language of the heart, and there is only one God, and he is omnipresent.
While continuing her speech, she further thanked PM Modi and said she was looking forward to his address at the event. The former Miss World went on to talk about the teachings of Sri Sathya Sai Baba. She said, “I extend a heartfelt thank to PM Narendra Modi ji, for being with us here today and for honouring this special occasion. I’m looking forward to listening to your wise words, impactful and inspiring as always, to enthral us today.
The celebrations also highlighted the legacy of Sri Sathya Sai Baba, who was born as Sathyanarayana Raju on November 23, 1926 in Puttaparthi. He became known worldwide for his teachings that centred on compassion, unity, and selfless service. Millions of followers across different countries remember him as one of the most respected spiritual leaders.
Sri Sathya Sai Baba died on April 24, 2011 at the age of 84, leaving behind a large community of devotees. His influence continues to be felt through his charitable work and the ongoing remembrance of his messages. The centenary event in Puttaparthi brought people together to honour his memory and the values he promoted.
